Rites Held For James E. Austin 

  SUFFOLK, April 12. - Funeral services for James Earl Austin were conducted 
at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the I.O. Hill and Co. Funeral Home by Rev. 
Charles Jones, assisted by Dr. S.T. Habel. 

  Mrs. Claudia Jacobs, Mrs. Paul Howell, T. Byron Cutchin and Rev. Jones, 
accompanied by Mrs Julian Goodwin, sang, "Sometimes We'll Understand," "God 
Will Take Care Of You" and "Abide With Me." 

  The pall was of pink roses, snapdragons, gerber, lilies of the valley and 
white gladioli.  Active pallbearers were J.L. Carr, W.T. Bolton, Randolph 
Miles, C.C. Pulley, Stanley Byrd, George S. Smith, Howard Bridges and Raymond 
Blanchard.  Burial was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

His parents, William Archie & Otelia A. (PIERCE) AUSTIN, are also buried 
   there, apparently unmarked.  His widowed mother 2m. Frank Walter CROSS 
   in 1901; he is buried in Block D, Lot 71. 

D.Cert. 8065 (Suffolk #121) gives b. 15 Oct 1907. 

His widow Bessie Lucille (HOLLOWELL) AUSTIN 2m. Benjamin Woodrow RUSSELL 
   in 1946; they are buried in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk.
