The youngster stepped on a nail protruding from a board at his home on Route 3, on June 10, and after a week of treatment at home, was hospitalized for the rest of the time. His death came from complications arising from lockjaw, including two operations to help feed him, the attending physician said. The boy made what appeared to be two recoveries, once while still at home when the injury seemed to be nothing more than a pain in his foot, plus fever, and another in the hospital, before taking a turn for the worse. A week after the accident, he was out in the yard of his home, but on the following morning his mother found him with the locked jaws that are the symptoms of tetanus, and he was taken to the hospital. The doctor said the boy had not received the customary "baby shots" that include a tetanus injection and which could have protected him from the start. The boy's mother said last night she hopes all parents take heed of the consequences. An autopsy will be performed, the parents said, and no funeral arrangements have been made. The body is at Baker Funeral Home. Surviving beside Mr. and Mrs. Adams are two brothers, Juan and Johnny, and five sisters, Mrs. Fletcher Goodrich of Driver; Mrs Joan Eure of Suffolk and Anita, Linda and Avonda Adams, all of the home, and the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Dessie Adams of Norfolk. ****************************************************************************** Lockjaw Victim's Rites Tomorrow Funeral services for Tosh Washington Adams Jr., 10-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. T.W.
