Miss Alford went to Achsah, Va., to live after leaving Suffolk. She entered the hospital two days before her death. She was a daughter of Francis and Susan Strange* Alford of Norfolk, and was a member of Main street Methodist church here. Two nieces, Mrs. Roy Davenport of Greenville, S.C., and Mrs. Harry A. Sloan, of Anderson, S.C., are the only survivors. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the graveside in Cedar Hill cemetery. Rev. R. Harris Kesler, pastor of Main Street Methodist church, will officiate. The funeral procession will leave Hill funeral home at 10:45 a.m. ****************************************************************************** Miss Alford Service Held Funeral services for Miss Agnes Hortense Alford were conducted today at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. R. Harris Kesler, pastor of Main Street Methdost Church. The casket was covered with a pall of pink and white carnations, white gladioli and heather. Pallbearers were Herbert Underwood, Frank Bowles, Ervin Wilkins, Wilson Elliott, Clarence Davis and Sidney Harrell. ****************************************************************************** Miss Agnes Alford ACHSAH - Miss Agnes Hortense Alford, 86, a native of Suffolk, died Monday in University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, after a long illness. A daughter of Francis Marion and Mrs. Susan Strange* Alford, she lived in Suffolk before moving to Madison County in 1955. She was a member of Main Street Methodist Church in Suffolk. Surviving are two nieces. The funeral procession will leave Hill Funeral Home, Suffolk, at 10:45 a.m. for a funeral service in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The Rev. R. Harris Kesler of Main Street Church will officiate. The family is at the home of Mrs. W.E. Brothers, 313 S. Main St., Suffolk.
