Although funeral services have not yet been completed, it was said that the rites will be conducted Monday and burial will be made in Cedar Hill cemetery. Mrs. Alford is survived by a son, Clinton Alford, a daughter, Miss Agnes Alford, ot Suffolk, and two granddaughters, Misses Frances and Elizabeth Alford, of Washington, D.C. ****************************************************************************** MRS. SUSANNE C. ALFORD Funeral services for Mrs. Suzanne [sic; Susanne] Caroline Alford, well-known citizen of this city and for the past 60 years a member of Main Street Methodist Church, were held yesterday afternoon at the grave in Cedar Hill Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. J.T. Allen, pastor of Main Street Church. A choir composed of Mrs. H.S. Eley, Mrs. W.A. Webster, Mrs. W.F. Whitley, S.R. Brockenbrough and A.D. Bowen sang "In The Sweet By and By," and "Christians Goodnight." The casket was covered with a pall of white carnations and ferns and there were many floral offerings. ****************************************************************************** MRS. SUSANNE C. ALFORD Suffolk, Feb. 18. - Mrs. Susanne Alford, widow of Francis Alford, died this morning at her home, 442 North Main street, after a long illness, aged 80 years. Surviving her are one son, Clinton B. Alford, and a daughter, Agnes Alford, both of Suffolk, and two grandchildren, Misses Frances and Elizabeth Alford, of Anderson, S.C. Funeral services will be held at the grave in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. J.T. Allen, pastor of Main Street Methodist Church. B, 19th Battalion VA Heavy Artillery, and later as a clerk in the Richmond Commissary. "Susan" applied for a pension 17 Mar 1928. Their son Preston (1871 - 1930) served in Co. F, 4th VA Infantry. He applied for an Invalid pension 11 May 1926 (App. #1538.742; Cert. A-11-16-28). "Susan" applied for a continuation of that pension 15 Nov 1930 (App. #1680.951).
