MARGARET ELIZABETH PILAND ALLEN

   NORFOLK - A funeral service for Mrs. Margaret E. Piland Allen, 62, of 
2000 Kingston Ave., Norfolk, was held Friday, August 18 at 2 p.m. by the 
Rev. Charlie K. Alligoon of Colonial Heights Church of Christ.

   Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

   Mrs. Allen died in a hospital Wednesday, August 16 at 10:15 a.m.

   She was the wife of William Thomas (Pete) Allen Jr. and a daughter of 
George Alexander and Mrs. Sarah Ophelia Holland Piland.

   A native of Nansemond county and Suffolk, she lived in Norfolk 45 years.

   She was a member of Colonial Heights Church of Christ and its Ladies Aid 
Society and a volunteer worker of the American Cancer Society.

   Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary S. Walker 
of Norfolk and Mrs. Rita A. Depsey of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Mrs. 
Georgie Simon of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Virgie P. Johnson of Franklin and Mrs. 
Jesse Parker of Holland; a brother, Rowland S. Piland of Suffolk; and five 
grandchildren.
