WILLIAM EDWARD ALLMOND

WILLIAM ALLMOND, NATIVE HERE, DEAD

   William Edward Allmond, age 65 and a native of Suffolk, died at his home in 
Scotland Neck, N.C. on North Church Street late Thursday night. Funeral services 
will be held at the home today at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Robert D. Davis, rector 
of Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Trinity 
Episcopal Cemetery.

   Mr. Allmond lived in Suffolk until 26 years ago when he went to Scotland Neck 
as an executive for the Columbian Peanut Company.  In more recent years he has 
been in the grocery business.  He was a prominent figure in the local Episcopal 
Church.

   Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Martha McGee Allmond; one daughter, Mrs. 
J.E. Perry; two sons, W.E. Allmond, Jr., and Bobby Allmond, all of Scotland 
Neck; one brother, M.G. Allmond, of Thomasville; three sisters Mrs. C.L. Hardee 
and Mrs. R.C. Gwynn, both of Suffolk, Va., and Mrs. J.C. Grims, of Portsmouth, 
Va.
