Ames, one of the most popular young men of Nansemond County, died at his residence, in the Lower Parish, on Tuesday, October 19, 1886, of hemorrhagic fever, after only a few days illness. The deceased was about twenty-seven years old, was a very successful farmer and trucker, and greatly respected for his many excellent traits of character. He leaves a young wife and two small children, besides a large circle of relatives and friends, to mourn his sad death. He had a policy in the Washington Life Insurance Company for $5000 at the time of his death which had been recently issued.
