Ayers Died March 14 In Norfolk Hospital Mrs. Beuna [sic; Buena] Vista Cross Ayers, 66, of Smithfield, died Tuesday, March 14, at 4 P.M. in a Norfolk hospital after a illness. She was a native of Nansemond County, a daughter of Frank W. and Mrs. Sally [sic; Joanna*] Oliver Cross. She was a member of Suffolk Christian Church. She is survived by her husband John E. Ayers; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie V. Hatchette of New Orleans and Mrs. Beuna E. Bowmar of Michigan City, Ind.; one son, Herbert J. Ayers, of Rescue; and six grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted in the I.O. Hill and Co. Funeral Home Friday, March 17, at 2 P.M. by Dr. George D. Alley, pastor of Suffolk Christian Church. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
