All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JUNIUS ADOLPHUS BAKER Junius Adolphus Baker, age 72 years, died at 8:45 o’clock yesterday morning, in the home of his brother-in-law, J.A. Bowdens, 1914 Elm Avenue, after an illness of five months. He was stricken with paralysis five months ago today, and had been a constant but patient sufferer since. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lorena Baker, who before marriage was Miss Lorena Skinner, of Nansemond County. He also leaves two sons, Richard Lemuel Baker and Oscar James Baker, Portsmouth; two daughters went before him, their names were Misses Eva Lee and Iola May Baker. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters, O.L. Baker, and Mrs. L.L. Williams, of Suffolk, and Mrs. E.M. Harrell of Portsmouth; one nephew, Emmet Harrell, of Portsmouth; one niece, Mrs. F.O. Simpson, of Norfolk, and two grandchildren, Robert Lemuel and Eva Lee Baker, besides hosts of friends He was born in Nansemond county, near Liberty Spring Church, of which he and his wife were members until he came of Portsmouth eight years ago. He had been a member and a deacon of Elm Avenue Christian Church for the past six years. Funeral services will be conducted in Liberty Spring Church, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
