BAKER Mrs. Minnie R. Baker, 71, widow of Parley Baker, died at her home in Capron Monday morning, March 6, following a long illness. Mrs. Baker was the daughter of the late Fletcher H. and Sarah Susan Russell of Gates County, N.C., and is survived by six daughters, Misses Mary Sue and Augusta Baker of Capron, Miss Florence Baker of Smithfield, Mrs. F.O. Birdsall of Petersburg, Mrs. E.F. White of Richmond and Mrs. Howard D. Moore of Emporia; four sons, Otis F. Baker of Portsmouth, William P. Baker of Franklin, J. Irving Baker of Capron and Cpl. Roland T. Baker of Las Vegas, Nev.; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Three sisters, Mrs. L.A. Rountree and Mrs. J.R. Corbitt of Sunbury, N.C.; one brother, Charles F. Russell, of Edenton, N.C., and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at her home by the Rev. C. Bailey Jones, assisted by the Rev. R.H. Marks, Rev. L.D. Stables and the Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin. The casket was covered with a pall of yellow roses, orchids and freshias. Active pallbearers were the sons, sons-in-law and P.W. Smith. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk.
