FRANK EDWARD BUTLER, JR.

F.E. BUTLER, JR., 79, BANKER AND LAWYER

   Virginia Beach - Frank Edward Butler, Jr., 79, of the 3100 block of Shore 
Drive, a retired banker and lawyer, died April 16, 1988, in Westminster-
Canterbury.
 
    Mr. Butler, a Suffolk native, was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. 
He graduated from Suffolk High School and the University of Virginia Law School. 
He practice law from 1932 until 1955 in Suffolk.
 
    He served as president and member of the board of directors of Farmer Bank 
of Nansemond until its merger with Seaboard Citizen National Bank of Norfolk. He 
served as senior vice president and member of the board of Seaboard National 
Bank. He retired from banking in 1974 and resumed his law practice in Virginia 
Beach.
 
    He was a member of the Virginia State Bar Association and the Virginia Beach 
Bar Association. He was a former member and past president of the Suffolk Bar 
Association. He was a former of the Suffolk Torary Club and the board of the 
Virginia State Chamber of Commerce. He was the widower of Arnold Fleetwood 
Butler.
 
    Survivors include two sons, Frank E. Butler, III of Virginia Beach and F. 
Prince Butler of Alexandria; two sisters, Betty Coulbourn of Windsor, N.C. and 
Margaret Seelbinder of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
 
    A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 
Suffolk. The family will be at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Suffolk, from 7 to 
8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
