Harrison H. Butler, for more than forty years in the ministry of the Christian Church, held this afternoon at the Suffolk Christian Church, were conducted by Rev. Dr. W.W. Staley, assisted by the Rev. H.S. Hardcastle, Rev. Dr. I.W. Johnson and Ministers of other denominations of the city. The choir of the church sang "Day is Dying in the West," "Kissed by the Angel of Peace," and "Rock of Ages." Active pallbearers were Dr. D.F. Griffin, Major W.T. Johnson, M.W. Joyner, J.R. Ellison, John M. Eley, E. F.Parker, of Cypress Chapel; John M. Butler, and Sam Pierce, of Norfolk. The members of Suffolk Lodge of Masons were honorary pallbearers. The Masonic burial service was used at the grave in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Note: Fifteen Ministers present: A.L. Kenyon, F.B. McSparren, F.O. Crimminger, F.B. Oglesby, I.W. Johnson, H.S. Butler, the Marrying Parson, died Saturday at his home on Chestnut Street. Mr. Butler was born 72 years ago in Isle of Wight County and for the past 44 years has been engaged actively in the Christian ministry, doing much missionary work. He established churches which he has lived to see become strong and prosperous. He was pastor of the churches at Cypress, Antioch, Bethlehem, Mount Carmel, Oakland, Crittenden, Berea, Windsor, Oak Grove and Isle of Wight. He held services in private homes, school houses and other places where he could lay the nucleus of a congregation. He was known all over Eastern North Carolina and' Virginia as the "marrying parson," having performed the ceremony for hundreds who used Suffolk as the Grena Green. Rev.
