WILLIAM JAMES BOWDEN

   Smithfield - A funeral service for William James (Buddy) Bowden was conducted 
at 2 p.m. Monday in I.O. Hill Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. Earl J. Spring 
and the Rev. J.A. Griffin. Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

   Bowden, 47, of Route 1, died Saturday at 9 a.m. in Louise Obici Memorial 
Hospital, Suffolk.

   A native of Ivor, he was a son of Mrs. Mary Jones Bowden Bailey of Suffolk 
and the late Willie Kenny Bowden and the husband of Mrs. Ernestine Green Bowden.

   Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Miss Miriam Cheryl 
Bowden of Lynchburg; a son, Johnnie Bowden of Murfreesboro, N.C.; three sisters, 
Mrs. Martha Oliver of Smithfield, Mrs. Emily Gingras of Suffolk and Mrs. 
Florence Hines of Nansemond County; and two grandchildren.
