ERNEST HUGH BAILEY 

   SUFFOLK - A funeral service for Ernest Hugh Bailey was conducted Saturday 
at 2 p.m. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles P. Price of 
Providence Methodist Church.  Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were Curtis Wills Sr., Chesley Powell, Henley Williams, Clark 
Savage, J.T. Beale, Park Ashburn Sr., J.D. Johnson, Richmond M. Williams, 
Homer Jones and Ralph Johnson.

   Bailey, 76, died Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Obici Memorial Hospital after a 
sudden illness.

   He lived on Route 3, Suffolk, and was a son of James Calvin and Mrs. 
Sallie Britt Bailey of Southampton County.

   He was a retired farmer and member of Providence Methodist Church.

   Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Emma Britt Bailey; a daughter, Mrs. Lell B. 
Hall of Nansemond County; five sons, Irie L. Bailey of Suffolk, Elle H. 
Bailey of Franklin, Russell E. Bailey and George R. Bailey of Nansemond 
County, and Raymond M. Bailey of Eclipse; five sisters, Mrs. Annie Mumford 
of Quaker City, Pa., Mrs. Betty Atkinson and Mrs. Ruth Britt of Ivor, Mrs. 
Cora Clark of Petersburg, and Mrs. Carrie Copeland of Orlando, Fla.; a 
brother, Grover L. Bailey of Orlando; and 13 grandchildren.
