Blacksmith Who Became Banker Dies 

Lorenzo Bailey, 81, Vice President of Windsor Institution 

  WINDSOR - Lorenzo Bailey, 81, banker and former blacksmith, died Thursday, 
16 January 1958, at 10:45 a.m., at the home of his son, C. Fred Bailey, in 
Windsor, after a short illness. 

  He was a son of Charles Washington and Mrs. Indiana Howell Bailey, of Isle 
of Wight County.  He was a native of Isle of Wight.  He was a member of the 
Windsor Christian Church, and a deacon of the church.  He formerly was 
superintendent of the church Sunday school. 

  He was vice president of the Farmers Bank Windsor.  He was raised as the 
village blacksmith and manufactured wagons and farm equipment.  In 1921, he 
became the distributor in Windsor for the Standard Oil Co. and in 1941 
retired.  However, he continued active in banking, retaining his vice 
presidency of the Farmers Bank. 

  Besides his son, surviving are daughter, Mrs. Sidney Cobb Jr. of Windsor; 
six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mrs. J.C. Roberts, 
Sr., and Mrs. Opher B. Wilkinson, both of Windsor.  Funeral services will be 
conducted at the residence Saturday, 18 January, 1958 at 3:30 p.m. by the Rev. 
W.A. Grissom, pastor of Windsor Christian Church.  Burial will be in Cedar 
Hill Cemetery, Suffolk.

Rites in Windsor For Lorenzo Bailey 

  WINDSOR - Funeral services for Lorenzo Bailey will be conducted tomorrow at 
3:30 p.m. at his residence in Windsor by the Rev. W.A. Grissom, pastor of the 
Windsor Christian Church.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. 

  Mr. Bailey, 31, vice president of the Fanners Bank of Windsor and a former 
blackamith, died yesterday at 10:45 a.m. at the home of his son, C. Fred 
Bailey in Windsor after a short illness. 

  He was a son of Charles Washington and Mrs. Indiana Howell Bailey, of Isle 
of Wight County.  He was a native of Isle of Wight.  He was a member of the 
Windsor Christian Church and a deacon of the church.  He formerly was 
superintendent of the church Sunday school.
