NEWMAN R. BEALE 

   WINDSOR - A funeral service for Newman R. Beale Sr., was conducted in 
Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, Friday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Joseph 
L. McTeer.  Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk.

   Pallbearers were Toby Holland, Leroy Gay, Floyd Garris, Roland Turner, 
Artie Braswell, S.A. Berry, Francis Holland and Burlee Hedgepeth.

   Beale, 61, died Wednesday in a Suffolk hospital after illness of a week.

   A native of Nansemond County, he was a son of Madison and Mrs. Cora 
Holland Beale and the husband of Mrs. Vernie Gay Beale.

   He was a retired farmer and a member of Colosse Baptist Church and 
Woodmen of the World.

   Besides his widow, surviving are a son, Newman R. Beale Jr. of Windsor; 
two daughters, Mrs. Richard P. Thornton Jr. of Richmond and Miss Nancy G. 
Beale of Windsor; and five grandchildren.

Find a Grave Mem. #153946775 mistakenly gives his father as the George M. 
   BEALE, who d. 18 Jul 1922, in Quantico, Prince William Co.  Instead, that 
   man was a PA native, two years older, and he was buried in Hartwood 
   Cemetery, Spotsylvania Co., rather than "body lost or destroyed." 

Geo. Madison BEALE d. 17 May 1929, Isle of Wight Co., and was buried in 
   near Boaz. (D.Cert. 15592 {Windsor #11}) 

Cora Lee (HOLLAND) BEALE d. 5 May 1939, Isle of Wight Co., and was buried in 
   a family cemetery, near Boaz.  (D.Cert. 13868 {Windsor #8}) 

Note that Cora's father Jason HOLLAND is not identical with Jason P. HOLLAND 
   (1841-1910), buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. 

Cora's widowed mother Mary Elizabeth (BUTLER) HOLLAND d. 6 Aug 1941, 
   Isle of Wight Co., and was buried in a family cemetery, near Carrsville.
