He was a native of Nansemond County and a farmer. He was a son of Robert and Mrs. Mary Ann Holland Beale of the county. He was a member of Holland Christian Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mamie Butler Beale; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Godfrey, Jr., of Smithfield and Mrs. John R. Rose, Jr., of Windsor; three sons, Howard Beale of Waverly, E. Clyde Beale of Holland and Robert O. Beale of Norfolk, and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Hill Funeral Home, Suffolk, Sunday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Carl C. Dollar of Holland Christian Church. Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were S.J. Butler, Jr., Robert O. Beale, Jr., James Joyner, Robert Harvell, Cecil L. Beale, Theodore Eason, P.B. Butler, Jr., and Harvey A. Butler.
