Survivors include her husband, David F. Bowles; four sons: Linwood D. Bowles, Horace Lee Bowles, of Franklin, Harvey Lee Bowles, and James Thomas Bowles, of this city; three daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Mae Marshall, of Weldon, N.C., Mrs. Louise Virginia Nelson, and Mrs. Lillian Frances Jordan, of this city; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Hubert D. Britt, of Windsor, Jimmie O. Britt, of Como, N.C., and Leo Britt, of Isle of Wight County; a half brother, Walter Britt, of Como, N.C.; four sisters, Mrs. Vennie Williams, of Gates, N.C., Mrs. Eva Whitfield, of Sunbeam, Va., Mrs. Blanche Hargrove, of Newsoms, and Mrs. Mary Story, of Norfolk; one half sister, Mrs. Rosa Hill, of Portsmouth; a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of Penticostal Holiness Church. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the R.W. Baker Funeral Home by the Rev. E.W. Ward. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery. (Find a Grave Mem. #81752855 & #81752834) Her father (1834 - 1915) was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Co. H, 41st VA Infantry. His step-mother (1855 - 1930) applied for a pension 28 Jun 1924 in Southampton Co. Her father left will 23 Oct 1903, proved 16 Dec 1915.
