BLANCHARD Funeral services for George Washington Blanchard, 91, who died Sunday morning at 4 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.T. Baggett, of Nansemond County, after a long illness, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock at the R. W. Baker Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Sydney Cobb, pastor of the Great Fork Baptist Church conducting the services. Burial will follow in the Holly Lawn Cemetery. He was the son of the late Paltire and Sarah Spivey Blanchard [sic*] of Gates County, N.C. A retired sawyer, he was formerly connected with the C.W. Evans Lumber Company of Edenton, N.C. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Martha Byrum Blanchard of Norfolk; six daughters, Mrs. C.J. Warren, of Whaleyville; Mrs. J.L. Wood, Mrs. E.R. Ward and Mrs. Baggett, all of Nansemond County; Mrs. Edna Doughtie, of Portsmouth, and Mrs. L.H. Prescott, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; four sons, Ernest and G.W. Blanchard, both of Richmond; L.E. Blanchard, of Edenton, N.C., and Murray Blanchard, of Suffolk; 28 grandchildren 15 great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
