Bland, who has been ill for the past several years, died today at his home on Spring Street in the 47th year of his age. He is survived by one daughter, Miss Mary Bland, and two sons, Ocie Bland, Jr. [sic*], and Burwell Bland; two sisters, Mrs. W.J. Hill, of Como, N.C., and Mrs. R.O. Hill, of Como, N.C., and one brother, W E. Bland. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and of the Order of Odd Fellows, and also of the Baptist church. The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon [1 Nov 1918] at 1 o'clock at the residence on Spring Street, and the interment will be in Cedar Hill cemetery, conducted by Rev. G.T. Lumpkin, assisted by Dr. W.W. Staley.
