Va.. January 26. - [...] MR. JOSEPH BOWEN DEAD. This morning at 7:25 o'clock. Mr. Joseph Bowen, a highly esteemed citizen of Suffolk, passed away at his home on Grace street after a short illness of pneumonia at the age of seventy years. Mr. Bowen was a devout Christian gentleman and had been for years a consistent member of the Methodist Church, and his faithful presence will be greatly missed at his place of worship. Mr. Bowen was a native of Worcester county, Maryland. He leaves to mourn their loss a wife, one daughter, Mrs. G.W. Tatum, of Orange, Va.; six sons, Messrs. Joseph E. Bowen, C.W. Bowen, Horace J. Bowen, Alfred D. Bowen, J.C. Bowen and F.M. Bowen: three brothers, Messrs. J.W. Bowen, of Los Angeles, Cal.; Z.M. Bowen, of Chester, Pa.; Henry B. Bowen, of Baltimore. Md.; two sisters, Mrs. A.E. Battelle, of Norfolk, Va., and Mrs. Lida A. Turner, of Philadelphia, Pa. The funeral services will be conducted from Main Street M.E. Church, Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, by the Rev. Dr. H.E. Johnson. ****************************************************************************** YESTERDAY IN SUFFOLK [...] BOWEN SUCCUMBS TO PNEUMONIA. Suffolk Bureau. Suffolk, Va., Jan. 26. - After a lengthy illness with pneumonia, Capt. Joseph Bowen died today at his home Grace and Pearl streets. He was 70 years of age. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Main Street Methodist church and will be conducted by the pastor, Rev. Dr. H.E. Johnson. The deceased was a native of Worcester county, Md., but had been a resident of Suffolk for many years. He was a member of the Methodist church. Besides a large number of friends, the deceased is survived by a widow; one daughter, Mrs. G.W. Tatum, of Orange, Va.; six sons, J.E., C.W., H.J., A.D., J.C. and F.M. Bowen; two sisters, Mrs. A.E. Battelle, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Lida Turner, of Philadelphia; and three brothers, J.W. Bowen, of Los Angeles, Cal., Z.M. Bowen, of Chester, Pa., and Henry B. Bowen, of Baltimore Capt. Joseph M.
