A native of Nansemond County, he was the husband of Mrs. Mary Cephas Pruden Baines. He was a member of Suffolk Christian Church and its Baraca Class. Other survivors include a daughter, Miss Mary William Baines, two sisters, Mrs. Floyd J. Brinkley and Mrs. Colin H. Hollowell, and a brother, J.R. Baines, all of Suffolk. A funeral will be held today at 2:30 p.m. in R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by Dr. Robert B. Marr. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
