Bennett, aged 71, wife of J.D. Bennett, died yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the family residence at Buckhorn, after a short illness. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Joseph L. Ballard, of Holland; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Celeste Williams, of Alexandria; a stepson, Gardner Bennett, of Tampa, Fla; three sisters, Miss [Martha] Emily Milteer and Mrs. Eta Dowdy [sic; Mary Etta Milteer Doughtie], of Holland, and Mrs. G.T. Pierce, of Lawtey, Fla.; two brothers, A.T. Milteer, of Quitman, Ga., and F.P. Milteer, of Portsmouth, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the residence at Buckhorn by the Rev. Thomas Tuft and the Rev. Clarence Hoffman. Burial will be in the family cemetery.
