Born in Chesterfield County, he retired from the Naval Air Station and was a former fireman with the City of Suffolk. He was a member of Windsor Baptist Chuch. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nina Baker Bowman; three sons, John E. Bowman Sr. of Richmond, Ernest Melvin Bowman III of Saudi Arabia and Bernard Baker Bowman of Fort Worth, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. H.B. Fisher. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight in the funeral home and request expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, Suffolk, or the Tackahhoe Rescue Squad. ****************************************************************************** ERNEST MELVIN BOWMAN A funeral service for Ernest Melvin Bowman, who died Monday, was conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the R.W.
