Mr. Beamon, a Suffolk native, had retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop 71, in Portsmouth in 1972. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Suffolk Christian Church; the Wilroy Ruritan Club; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Joe Bagley Post 2582; Knights of Pythias, Welcome Lodge 50; and Woodmen of the World, Suffolk 2. Survivors include his wife, Frances T. Beamon; a stepdaughter, Paulette Roberts of Chesapeake; a son, Doug Beamon of Suffolk; a stepson, Jeffrey Anderson of Elyria, Ohio; a sister, Ethel Matthews of Lynchburg; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Suffolk Christian Church by the Rev. Thomas Britton. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the church's memorial fund, the American Cancer Society or to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad.
