A native of Suffolk, he was a son of William Henry and Mrs. Louise Thompson Bowers. He retired in 1956 after 35 years with the Southern Railway. He was a member of Main Street Methodist Church and was a past chancellor commander of Suffolk Knights of Phythias Lodge. Surviving are his widow Mrs. Alyma Morrisette Bowers and two sisters, Mrs. J.V. Prichard of Suffolk and Mrs. C.H. Williams of Portsmouth. A funeral service will be conducted in I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home today at 2 p.m. by the Rev. R. Harris Kesler. Burial, with Pythian rites, will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
