All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ HATTIE ANN SMITH SAWYER BRETT ANN BRETT Mrs. Ann Sawyer Brett of 111 Lakewood Dr., a homemaker, entered into a new life to be with her husband and her God on Thursday, Oct. 7, 1993. Mrs. Brett was the widow of Joseph C. Brett, and daughter of the late Will Jordan Smith and Georgia Perry Smith. She was predeceased by a son, Frank Randolph Sawyer. She was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church, the Wesley Sunday School Class, the United Women of Magnolia Church, and was the founder of the "We Care Ministry," in which she was active for 10 years. She is survived by four daughters, Selina Sawyer Scoggins of Fayetteville, N.C., Jo Clair Butler of Richmond, Kay Brett Hord of Portsmouth, Sue Blount Sawyer of Richmond; a son, George L. Sawyer of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Ethel P. Futurell of Ahoskie, N.C.; a niece, Carroll Smith of Suffolk; a nephew, Ken Phelps of Atlanta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Linwood G. Cook in Magnolia United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the residence from 2 to 4 p.m. following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the "We Care" Ministry or The United Methodist Women of Magnolia Church, both in care of Magnolia UMC, 1764 Wilroy Rd., Suffolk, Va. 23434. Roy (1886 - 1974) is buried with his father in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery, Suffolk.
