ELIZABETH RHODES BYRD

   Suffolk - Elizabeth Rhodes Byrd, 87, a former resident of Holland, Va., 
passed away Jan. 25, 2005, in Obici Hospital after a long fight with 
Alzheimer’s and finally pneumonia.

   Mrs. Byrd was the daughter of the late James Eugene Rhodes and Mittie 
[sic; Mattie] G. Lewis Rhodes and the widow of Stanley L. Byrd Sr.  She was 
also predeceased by a son, Lewis Wayne Byrd.  She retired as a dietitian with 
Holland High School and was a member of the Holland Baptist Church.

   She is survived by her son, Stanley L. Byrd, Jr. of Suffolk and special 
friend Earnestine D. Wade of Carrsville, Va.; grandchildren, Stanley Byrd, III 
of Holland and Christina Santsaver of Suffolk; and three great-grandchildren.

   A funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of 
Harrell Hill Funeral Home by Pastor Linwood Paterson.  Burial will be at 
Holland Cemetery.  Family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. and 
other times at the home of the granddaughter, Chris Santsaver, 104 Dunbar 
Drive, Suffolk.
