All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ FRANCES LOUISE BRITT MISS FRANCES BRITT, 92, SUFFOLK REPORTER FOR 35 YEARS Suffolk - Miss Frances Louise Britt, an employee for more than 35 years of the Ledger-Dispatch, which later became the Ledger-Star, died Thursday in a local convalescent home. She was 92. She worked from 1920 until August 1955 as a reporter assigned to the Suffolk office of the Ledger-Dispatch. A native of Suffolk, she was a daughter of Exum Britton Britt and Mrs. Ellen Custine Riddick Britt. Miss Britt graduated from public schools in Suffolk and from Suffolk College. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. She is survived by two nephews, E. Britt Myrick of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ben R. Britt of New York City; and by four grandnieces, Mrs. Frances Myrick Chilton of Richmond, Mrs. Grace Myrick Brogan of Gwynedd Valley, Pa., Ruth Ann Shuman of Media, Pa., and Mrs. Basil Spalding Jr. of Weems. The body was taken to R.W. Baker & Co., Funeral Home, pending arrangements.
