Byrd, 88, resident of the Liberty Spring Community in Nansemond County, died today at 11:30 a.m. at the Obici Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was a charter member of Liberty Spring Christian Church and the oldest deacon in the church. He was superintendent of the church Sunday school for 40 years and a member of the Savage Bible Class of the church. Husband of the late Mrs. Nora Porter Byrd, he was a son of Elvy Byrd and Mrs. Mary Porter Byrd of Nansemond County. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Byrd Arnold of Holland and Mrs. David T. Dunn of Norfolk; a son, Lloyd P. Byrd, of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at Liberty Spring Christian Church by the Rev. Raymond Phelts, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The funeral procession will leave Baker Funeral home for the church at 11 a.m. ******************************************************************************** I.T. BYRD BURIED AT LIBERTY SPRING Funeral services for I.T. Byrd were conducted at the Liberty Spring Christian Church yesterday at 11:30 a.m. by the Rev. H. Raymond Phelts. The choir, accompanied by Mrs. Luther Wilkins, sang "It Is Well With My Soul" and "My Faith Looks Up To Thee." The pall was yellow roses, Easter Lillies, Lavender astors, yellow daisies and spurge. Active pallbearers were Leonard Byrd, Howard Byrd, Elmer Austin, Garland Byrd, Dan Byrd, and David Dunn Jr. Burial was in the church cemetery. [Iva T.
