Franklin, district superintendent, Dr. John Paul Tyler and the Rev. F.L. Baker, pastor of Oxford Methodist Church. Members of State, district and local church organizations, of the Suffolk Woman’s Club and the Suffolk Literary Club attended the services in a body, and the pall, made of Madonna lilies, white iris and carnations, was sent by the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of Virginia Methodist Conference. Active pallbearers were W.E. Deaton, of Joliet, Ill.; H.P. Vanderslice, of Hampton; Howard Gwaltney, of Smithfield; W.S. Beamon, Jr., W.T. Myrick, Paul Van Valkenburgh, Dr. T. Wood Campbell, and Earle W. Elmore. Members of the Board of Stewards and of the Board of Trustees of Main Street Methodist Church, Dr. W.T. Gay, Dr. J. Roland Ellison, Dr. Charles Steele and Charles T. Theidick were honorary pallbearers. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Among the out-of-town people who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Granberry E. Vanderslice, Misses Vanderslice, of Richmond; Mrs. G.K. Vanderslice, Harrison Vanderslice and Miss Anne Vanderslice, of Hampton; Mrs. George V. Deaton, of New York City; Mrs. Ferguson, of Hampton, Mrs. C.B. Griffith, of Newport News; Mr. and Mrs. Hoard Gwaltney, of Smithfield; Mrs. Fred Burnett of Asheville, N.C., and Mrs. M.F.
