Brett, a well known citizen of North Carolina, but lately living in Suffolk, died suddenly last evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B.E. Parker, on Bosley Avenue, in the 76th year on his age. Mr. Brett is survived by two daughters, Mrs. B.E. Parker, and Miss Nina Brett, of Suffolk, six sons, H.A. Brett of Como, N.C., R.E. Brett of Victoria, Va., F.T. Brett of Portsmouth, I.W. Brett of Suffolk, J.C. Brett of Como, N.C., M.D. Brett of Boykins, Va., and a number of grandchildren and great children. He was a Confederate soldier, and during the war of Secession was a member of Co.G., 31st N.C. Regiment. He fought all through the war. The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at four o’clock, at the New Hope Methodist Church conducted by Rev. W.R. Edwards, assisted by Rev. G.F. Green, of Suffolk, Va., Interment will be made in the family cemetery.
