All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARY ELLEN JOYNER BRADSHAW Suffolk, Oct.22- Mrs. Ellen Bradshaw, prominent Nansemond County citizen, and widow of Nathaniel Bradshaw, died this afternoon at her home near Nurneyville, in the county, aged 78* years. Surviving her are five sons, F.B. Bradshaw of Suffolk; Lafayette, Herman, and John C., of this county; three daughters, Mrs. George Wade, of Franklin, Mrs. Charles Gardner and Mrs. Gordon Vaughan, of Portsmouth; a brother, R.H. Joyner, of Walters; a sister, Mrs. Pattie Mumford; 29 grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Johnson and the Rev. R. E. Brittle officiating. [Note: Mrs. Gordon Vaughan is in error; it should read Mrs. Wilber Vaughan.] ******************************************************************************** MARY ELLEN JOYNER BRADSHAW Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Bradshaw, widow of N.T. Bradshaw who died Sunday at her home in Nansemond County, were held Monday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at Liberty Spring Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. I.W. Johnson, assisted by the Rev. R.E. Brittle. The church choir, accompanied by Mrs. I.W. Johnson, sang, Asleep In Jesus" and "Abide With Me." Mrs. C.W. Harrell sang the solo, "Have Thine Own Way, Lord." There were many flowers, and the casket was covered with Ascension lilies and pink roses. Mrs. Bradshaw, who was 79* years old, is survived by five sons, Lafayette, Herman and John C. Bradshaw of Nansemond County, F.B. Bradshaw of Suffolk and Linwood Bradshaw of Franklin; three daughters, Mrs. George W. Wade of Franklin, Mrs. Charles Gardner and Mrs. Wilbur Vaughan of Portsmouth; a brother, R.H. Joyner of Walters; one sister, Mrs. Pattie Mumford, of Petersburg, besides a number of grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A number of relatives and friends from Franklin attended the funeral.
