Brown, in Petersburg. Mrs. Brown, who had been visiting relatives in Suffolk for six weeks, left here the previous Friday afternoon for her home, in Petersburg, and in about five minutes after reaching there she was stricken with nervous depression. Up to the day of her death she was considered to be improving, but the death angel descended that night, and the soul of a noble woman returned to the God who gave it. Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late James R. McGuire, who was for many years a prominent citizen of Suffolk, both before and after the war between the States. The subject of this notice was a native of Suffolk, and was about forty-seven years of age. Three sisters survive her - Mrs. Charles B. Plumbe, of Washington, D.C.; Mrs. W.B. Ferguson and Miss Alice McGuire, of Suffolk. Numerous other relatives and a large circle of friends mourn the death of Mrs. Brown, who was a lady of most lovable character. The body of Mrs. Brown arrived here on Thursday night of last week, and was taken to the residence of her brother-in-law, Mr. W.B. Ferguson, on Main Street. The funeral took place at the Main Street Methodist Church on Friday afternoon, at 4 o'clock, and was largely attended. Rev. W.T. Green, pastor of the church, officiated, and was assisted by Rev. Joseph B. Dunn, rector of St. Paul's P.E. Church. During the services the choir sang "Nearer My God, To Thee," and " Lead, Kindly Light." At the conclusion of the last hymn the solemn cortege wended its way to Cedar Hill Cemetery, where Mrs. Brown's remains were laid to rest beside those of loved ones gone before. The pallbearers were Dr. A.W. Eley, W.E. Hines, G.S.P. Holland, M.T. Pinner, A.A. Riddick, and Dr. W.D. Wood. Frederica Bremer (MCGUIRE; Mrs. William J.)
