Darden and Julia Riddick Darden, died this afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Artman, in College Court, after a long illness. Mrs. Brinkley was the widow of Joel H. Brinkley and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Artman and Miss Julia Brinkley; two grandsons, Dr. R. Townsend Artman, of Philadelphia, and Jack Artman, of Suffolk; two granddaughtera, Mrs. Wallace Walton, Suffolk, and Miss Virginia Brinkley, of Staunton. She was a member of Suffolk Christian Church. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Suffolk Christian Church by Dr. J.G. Truitt and the Rev. H.S. Hardcastle. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. ************************************************ MARY ALICE DARDEN BRINKLEY Funeral services were to be held at 3:30 p.m. today for Mrs. Alice Darden Brinkley, aged 82, who died Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Artman, in College Court. The rites were to be conducted at Suffolk Christian church by the pastor, the Rev. Dr. John G. Truitt, assisted by the Rev. H.S. Hardcastle of Norfolk. Burial was to be made in the family plot at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Brinkley, one of Suffolk’s oldest residents, had made her home here for a half-century and was well known throughout this section. She was the widow of J.H. Brinkley, who died several years ago. Mrs. Brinkley’s death followed an illness of two weeks duration. Surviving Mrs. Brinkley are two daughters, Mrs. Artman and Miss Julia Brinkley; two granddaughters, Mrs. Wallace H. Walton and Miss Virginia Brinkley; and two grandsons, Dr. Townsend Artman, of Philadelphia, and Jack Artman of Suffolk. [Mary Alice (DARDEN; Mrs. Joel H.)
