ARMENSIA BRINKLEY TOMORROW AFTERNOON Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow for Mrs. Armesia Franklin Brinkley, widow of Phillip Brinkley and member of an old and prominent Nansemond county family, who died yesterday after a long illness at her home on Clay Street. The funeral service will be conducted from the home of her daughter, Mrs. James E. Crocker, 435 West Washington Street, with the Rev. George Wesley Jones, D.D., officiating. Burial will be in the family square at Cedar Hill cemetery with the following serving as pall-bearers: Phillip Crocker, Theodore Myrick, Wellons Caulk, Pretlow Brinkley, West Butler, Craig Wallace, C.L. Pierce and Mills Riddick. In her 89th year and forced into the inactivity of such an advanced age, Mrs. Brinkley had been in declining health for several years. For some three-score years she had been an active member of Main Street M.E. Church and of its women's organizations. The daughter of Javan and Jane Franklin, Mrs. Brinkley was reared on a plantation in Cypress district of Nansemond county. It was here as a girl in her early teens she experienced the period of occupation during the War Between the States. Surviving Mrs. Brinkley are three sons and two daughters: Preston S. Brinkley, Ira P. Brinkley, Mrs. J.E. Crocker and Mrs. Andrew Tyree, all of Suffolk and Oscar Brinkley of Roanoke; also several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
