MISS BERTIE MAE BRANCH 

  Funeral services for Miss Bertie Mae Branch were conducted Sunday afternoon 
at 3 o'clock at the Oxford Methodist Church by the pastor, the Rev. Nathaniel 
Davis, assisted by Dr. H.J. Goodwin, pastor of the First Baptist Church. 

  The choir, of which Miss Branch had been a member, sang, "In The Hour Of 
Trial" and "Home of The Soul," and as the casket was carried from the church 
Mrs. J. Gilmore Ware, organist, played "Going Home." 

  A pall of red roses covered the casket, and there were many handsome floral 
tributes.  Active pallbearers were Jack West, William Rawles, George Hudgins, 
James Parker, Roy Minnick, Ryland Edwards, B.L. Baker, Jr., and William Eley. 
Interment was in Cedar Hill cemetery.

Her parents, John J.S. & Delia Caroline (WILLIAMS) BRANCH, and step-mother 
   are buried in the same lot

D.Cert. 3335 (Suffolk #39) 

She suffered brain damage 20 Jan 1942 when poisoned by a defective gas heater 
   in her bedroom. 

Her father was a noted detective and bloodhound handler.  His obits
