BRINKLEY Mrs. Erma Lassiter Brinkley, 66, a resident of 419 South St., Portsmouth, a former resident of Suffolk, died in Portsmouth General Hospital at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday. A native of Gates Co., she was the wife of Herman Butler Brinkley and the daughter of the late John Thomas Lassiter and Mrs. Martha Holland Lassiter. She was a member of Somerton Methodist Church and a former forelady at Planter's Nut and Chocolate Co. Besides her husband, she is survived by: three sisters, Mrs. Daisey L. Smith of San Diego, Cal., Miss Mary Lassiter of Whaleyville and Mrs. Janie L. Warrington of Courtland; and one brother, John Maynard Lassiter of Petersburg. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. R.A. Craig, retired Methodist minister. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Lionel L. Edwards of Courtland. ****************************************************************************** ERMA LASSITER BRINKLEY PORTSMOUTH - A funeral service for Mrs. Erma Lassiter Brinkley, age 66, was conducted Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home, Suffolk, by Rev. R.A. Craig, retired Methodist Minister and Rev. Robert D. Fridley. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. Pallbearers were M.D. Simons, J.O. Mountcastle, Roland C. Parker, Ralph K. Hollowell, F.J. Brinkley Jr. and John M. Warrington. Mrs. Brinkley, died Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. in Portsmouth General Hospital after a long illness. A native of Gates County, N.C. she was the wife of Herman Butler Brinkley and the daughter of the late John Thomas and Mrs. Martha (Lula) Holland Lassiter. She was a member of Somerton Methodist Church. Formerly a resident of Suffolk, she had made her home in Portsmouth for the past 20 years. Besides her husband surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Daisy L. Smith, San Diego, Calif., Miss Mary E. Lassiter, Whaleyville and Mrs. Janie L. Warrington, Courtland, one brother, John Maynard Lassiter of Petersburg, and several nieces and nephews.
