DIES SUDDENLY YOUNG MERCHANT IS PNEUMONIA VICTIM; RITES SUNDAY AFTERNOON Ira Philip Brinkley, Jr. widely known young business man, died at 4:45 a.m. today of pneumonia. Death occurred at Lakeview hospital where he was admitted earlier last night when his sudden illness was diagnosed as pneumonia. Funeral services will be held at Suffolk Christian Church Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with the pastor, the Rev. Dr. John G. Truitt, conducting the rites. Burial will be in the Brinkley square at Cedar Hill cemetery. Mrs. Brinkley, who was 31 years of age, was a member of the firm of Nansemond Seed Corporation. He was widely known throughout Eastern Virginia and particularly in Nansemond and adjoining counties. He was an alumnus of the University of Virginia and a graduate of the local schools. Mr. Brinkley is survived by his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Ira P. Brinkley, a brother, Pretlow M. Brinkley, and several uncles, aunts and cousins in Suffolk and this section. The illness of Mr. Brinkley came unexpectedly. He continued at his store duties through Thursday evening, but remained at his residence on Clay street yesterday because of an indisposition and the inclement weather. Early last evening he complained of feeling badly. His illness progressed and a physician was called. Examination revealed that Mr. Brinkley was approaching a crisis in pneumonia, which had developed without his suspecting the nature of his illness.
