BARNES Dr. Thos. H. Barnes died in Suffolk Wednesday afternoon in his eighty-third year. He was easily one of the most prominent men of Tidewater Virginia and was well-known throughout the State as a physician, statesman and a staunch Democrat. He represented his native county, Nansemond, in the legislature, was a member of the constitutional Convention, and county chairman. He was a member of the board of visitors of William and Mary College and of the Medical College of Virginia. He was well known and loved in Franklin where he frequently visited, and perhaps numbered more warm personal friends than any other man in this part of the State. The funeral will be held from his home in West Washington street, Suffolk, Saturday morning at 11 o’clock.
