All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM LEE BRINKLEY William Lee Brinkley, 65, of 121 Northbrooke Ave., died Aug. 23, 1988, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. A native of Nansemond County, he was the son of the late Cyrus Brinkley, Sr. With his wife and daughters, he was the co-owner of Oakridge Florist. He was a member of the Allied Florists Association, the Florists’ Telegraph Delivery Association and the Suffolk Retail Merchants Association. Brinkley was also a member of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce-Suffolk Division, the Bobby Harrell Hunt Club and was treasurer of the Suffolk Civitan Club. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Duke Brinkley; two daughters, Linda B. Kelly and Brenda B. Griffin, both of Suffolk; three sons, Clifton C. Brinkley of Franklin, Michael Allen Brinkley and William K. Brinkley, both of Suffolk; his mother, Mary Emma Parker Brinkley of Hampton. Other survivors include four sisters, Mary Elizabeth Sauvan, Martha B. Wright, and Ada B. Heffington, all of Suffolk, and Julianne B. Cooper of Upper Monclair, N.J.; a brother, Cyrus Brinkley Jr., of Norfolk; and six grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Bethlehem Christian Church by Dr. Merle D. Correll and Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Hill Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the church building fund.
