COPELAND IS DEAD NEAR LUMMIS Suffolk, Feb. 15 - Mrs. Lelia B. Copeland, prominent woman of the county, wife of J.W. Copeland, died this afternoon at 2 o’clock at her home near Lummis, Va., after a short illness, aged 63. Besides her husband she is survived by five children, Mrs. W.B. Holland, of Holland, Va.; Mrs. Annie C. Felton, of Lummis, Va.; Miss Mamie Copeland, of Smithfield, Va.; Richard Henry Copeland, of Norfolk, Va.; J.H. Copeland of Lummis, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Irving Truitt, of Suffolk, Va.; Mrs. R.C. Norfleet, of Box Elder, Va.; Miss Georgia Rodgers, of Capron, Va.; three brothers, L.A. Rodgers and Emmett Rodgers, of Cypress Chapel, Va., and J.T. Rodgers, of Whaleyville, Va. Mrs. Copeland was the daughter of the late Richard Rodgers, a pioneer citizen of Nansemond. She was a member of Whaleyville Methodist Church and was active in church and social life of the county. She was connected by birth and marriage with a number of the leading families of the county. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Holland Baptist Church by the Rev. L.F. Paulette, assisted by the Rev. Dr. N.G. Newman and the Rev. O.L. Gilliam. Interment will be made in the family cemetery near Lummis, Va. Lelia Beverly (RODGERS/ROGERS; Mrs. Jesse W.)
