WILLIAM RUFUS COPELAND

   Suffolk, Jan. 3 - William Rufus Copeland, 83, died today at 12:30 p.m. at 
his home at Buckhorn, Nansemond County, after a long illness.

   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen E. Copeland; two daughters Mrs. 
Lelia May Turner, of Holland, and Mrs. Bessie Irene White, of Norfolk; five 
sons, John J. and J.H. Copeland, of Buckhorn; W.B. Copeland, of Suffolk; K.E. 
and Frank R. Copeland, of Holland; 36 grandchildren.

   The body was taken to the Hill Funeral Home, where it will remain until 
Saturday at 1:30 p.m., when the procession will leave for the Copeland 
Cemetery, near Buckhorn, where services will be conducted at the grave at 2 
p.m., by the Rev. H.L. Foster, pastor of Holland Baptist Church.
