Casper Child, 7, Dies in Hospital 

  CHUCKATUCK - Philip [sic; Phillip] Ray Casper, 7, son of Mrs. Tenny 
Umphlette [sic; Penny Umphlett] Casper of Chuckatuck, died Thursday at Obici 
Memorial hospital after an illness of one day. 

  He was born in Surry County, a son of the late James Calvin Casper, and had 
spent most of his life in Chuckatuck. 

  Besides his mother he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Peggy Ann Jenkins of 
Santa Maria, Calif., and Miss Joyce Ray Casper of the home; four brothers, 
Rommie Lee Casper of Franklin and James Earl Casper, Thomas Leslie Casper and 
Calvin V. Casper, all of the home; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. 
Slade Umphlette [sic; Shade Umphlett] of Suffolk, and his paternal 
grandmother, Mrs. Nannie L. Casper of Edenton, N.C. 

  The body was taken to the Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield.  Funeral 
services will be announced later.

His monument is topped by a praying angel; a photo of it - added by
