JOHN LUCIOUS CUTHBERT

J.L. CUTHBERT, RETIRED LUMBER FIRM MANAGER

   Suffolk - John Lucious Cuthbert, 68, retired manager of American Lumber Co., 
died Sunday at 10:20 p.m. in a Norfolk hospital after three weeks illness.

   Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Prince Bizzelle Cuthbert; a daughter, Mrs. 
William N. Stovall of Suffolk; two brothers, Charles Pinckney Cuthbert of 
Charleston, and Edmund Rhett Cuthbert of Summerville, S.C.; and a grandson, John 
Cuthbert Stovall of Suffolk.

   A funeral service will be conducted in Holly Lawn Cemetery today at 3 p.m. by 
the Rt. Rev. William A. Brown, retired bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of 
Southern Virginia. The funeral procession will leave Hill Funeral Home at 2:45 
p.m.

J. L. Cuthbert, 68, Buried Aug. 22 In Holly Lawn Cem'y 

  John Lucious Cuthbert, 68, retired manager of American Lumber Co., Suffolk, 
died Sunday, August 20, 1961, in a Norfolk hospital after three weeks illness. 

  A native of Summerville, S.C., he was a son of Robert Banwell and Eloise 
Mayrant Cuthbert of Charleston, S.C. 

  A veteran of World War I, he served in France as a cavalry officer. 

  He was a member of St. Paul's' Episcopal Church. 

  Since retiring 10 years ago, he had been engaged in farming and cattle 
raising. 

  Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Prinze Bizzelle Cuthbert: a daughter, 
Mrs. William N. Stovall of Suffolk; two brothers, Charles Pinckney Cuthbert of 
Charleston, and Edmund Rhett Cuthbert of Summerville, S.C., and a grandson, 
John Cuthbert Stovall of Suffolk. 

  A funeral service was conducted in Holly Lawn Cemetery August 22 at 3 P.M. 
by the Rt. Rev. William A. Brown, retired bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of 
Southern Virginia.
