Burial was in a Charleston cemetery. He was one of Nansemond County’s first volunteers after the United States’ entry in World War I and served with the 115 Ambulance Corps of the 29th Division in the United States and overseas. He was a former member of Suffolk Elks lodge. He attended Franklin Military Academy. At the time of his death Oct. 28, he was owner and operator of a paint and art supply firm in Charleston. He was a son of the late John T. and Betty Cutchins of Nansemond County and was a member of Landmark Masonic Lodge and Knights of Pythias in Charleston. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise Cutchins of Charleston; a sister, Mrs. Ralph Thompson of Holland; a niece, Mrs. Larry Weldon of Portsmouth, and three nephews, the Rev. Raymond J. Cutchins of Petersburg, William L. Cutchins of Smithfield and J.T. Cutchins, II, of Fall Church.
