Prominent Business And Civic Leader, Bank Vice-President and Widely Known Lumberman, Dies After a Brief Illness In Kingsboro. Goldsborough G. Coulbourn, prominent lumberman and banker of Suffolk, succumbed to a sudden heart attack at his home in Kingsboro Heights last night shortly after 11 o'clock. Death followed the attack quickly. Complaining of a severe pain in the vicinity of the heart only a few minutes before the end, Mr. Coulbourn expired shortly after the arrival of the hastily summoned family physician. Returning home from a visit to a local hospital last night where he called on a new granddaughter, Mr. Coulbourn was apparently in good health and spirits. Suddenly he complained of a severe pain which grew in intensity until he expired. (Continued on page 6) p. 6 G. G. Coulbourn (Continued from page one) lumberman, Mr. Coulbourn was engaged in and interested in a variety of businesses and civic affairs. As senior member of the milling and lumber firm of Coulbourn Brothers, he directed the affairs of the company from his home here although the main offices of the company are located in Philadelphia. In addition to his lumber interests, Mr. Coulbourn was vice-president of the American Bank and Trust Company, having held that position since the organization of the Institution. He owned the Coulbourn Dairy on the Hosier road, specializing in pure-bred dairy herds. He owned and operated extensive farms in Virginia and North Carolina. He was especially interested in cooperative marketing and the improvement of agriculture, lending aid in a number of movements in these directions. In civic affairs, Mr. Coulbourn was a member of the Suffolk School Board, was until recently a member of the Rotary Club, a member of the Presbyterian Church and a supporter of the Boy Scout movement. Surviving Mr. Couibourn are his widow, Mrs. Anne Coulbourn; five sons, Fenton, of Windsor, Irving, William, Edwin and Uriah, all of Suffolk; a daughter, Catherine, of Suffolk; a granddaughter, Eleanor Ann Coulbourn, of Suffolk; three brothers, John, of Philadelphia; Oscar, of Waverly, and Edwin, of Cape Charles; a sister, Mrs. Mollie Mason, of Baltimore. Funeral arrangements are awaiting the gathering of the family for completion. A son, William, was in Chicago yesterday attending the World's Fair. Efforts to locate and inform him of his father's death were made last night and are being continued today.
