Cones, an aged and well-known citizen of this city, died yesterday at 4 o'clock at his home in Jackson street, after an illness of a few hours. Mr. Cones was stricken with acute indigestion and survived but a few hours. He was 72 years of age, and is survived by his widow, one brother, G.W. Cones, of Suffolk, and a sister, Mrs. Leslie Babb, also of this city. The funeral services will be held at the residence in Jackson street Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. Dr. W.W. Staley. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Suffolk, May 16. -- The funeral services of Junius A. Cones were held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Dr. W.W. Staley. The active pallbearers were brothers-in-law and nephews of the deceased, J.E. Baines, Ernest Jones, Willie Cones, L.T. Cones, J.L. Babb. Honorary: J.C. Macarty, John King, J.M. White, Albert Bryant, W.H. Jernigan, J.F. Joyner, J.L. Miles, L. Pritchard. Numbers of friends and relatives were present. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Junius A. CONES, carpenter, b. 15 Mar 1849*, Isle of Wight Co., d. 12 May 1921, at home, Suffolk, interred in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Block G, Lot 137*), Suffolk, 14 May 1921, "Virginian-Pilot" (Norfolk, VA), May 14 & 17, 1921, posted with Find a Grave Memorial #247993529 [no grave photo] *The cemetery list gives b. 25 Mar 1851. D.Cert. 10773 (Suffolk #122) gives son of Thomas & Maggie (TURNER) CONES. Junius is buried with his first wife, Sarah V. (BABB) CONES.
