All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ FLORA ADELL CARR Funeral services for Mrs. Flora Adell (Dolly) Carr, 55 [sic;54*], of Holland, who died Friday morning at a local hospital, will be conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Holland Baptist Church by the Rev. William Henry Corbitt, of Portsmouth, assisted by the Rev. Jack Boyles, of Windsor, and the Rev. J. Sidney Cobb, of Whaleyville. She was the daughter of the late K. Thomas and Flora Rhodes Spivey, of Isle of Wight County. She was a member of the Holland Baptist Church where she was active in its organizations for many years. Survivors include her husband, James Alfred Carr, Holland, and five daughters, Mrs. Raymond White, of Elizabeth City; Mrs. J.P. Carr, of Carrsville; Jack Herlich, of Long Island, N.Y.; Mrs. Glen A. Shifflett, of Shenandoah, and Miss Bernice Carr, of Portsmouth; three sons, James A. Jr., and Clifton S. Carr, of Holland, and Thomas Lewis Carr, of Camp Polk, La.; eight grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the Holland Funeral Home in Franklin where it will remain until noon today at which time it will be taken to the church to lie in state until hour of the funeral.
