Suffolk, Nov. 16. - [...] The condition of S.J. Carr this evening was reported slightly more favorable. [...] ****************************************************************************** S. JUNIUS CARR DEAD. Suffolk, Va., Nov. 18. - S. Junius Carr, an active churchman and officer and choir singer of the Suffolk Christian church, died about 11 o'clock last night at his home in West Washington street, aged 57 years. He had been ill about a week. There were fleeting symptoms of improvement, but they were of short duration and his previous delicate health rendered him unable to combat the inroads of disease. The funeral service will be conducted at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the Suffolk Christian church. The deceased is survived by a widow, four daughters and two sons - Mrs. W.E. Brinkley, wife of Suffolk's police chief; Mrs. Alfred D. Bowen, and Miss Ruth Carr, of Suffolk; Mrs. J. Harry Titus, of Indiana; W. Post Carr, of Temple, Texas, and Paul Carr, of Suffolk. There also are several grandchildren, one sister - Mrs. Mollie Bradshaw, of Suffolk; one brother - B.T. Carr, of Windsor; three half-brothers - C.L. Carr, of Lewisburg, W. Va.; J. Clarence Carr, of Marion, Ind., and Darius Carr, of Windsor. The deceased was born in Isle of Wight county, but had resided in Suffolk 22 years, during all of which time he was connected with the dry goods house of Ballard and Smith. The following have been selected as pallbearers: Active - J.H. Kelly, J.K. Hines, E.L. Baker, M.M. Williams, J. Walter Powell and James C. Felton. Honorary - Col. E.E. Holland, Dr. D.L. Harrell, Walter W. Ballard, Otis S. Smith, V.S. Kilby, J.Z. Yates, T.W. Artman, W.H. Barnes, J.M. Darden, H.M. Parker, W.H. Jones, Jr., Col. J.E. West, Hersey Woodward, John King, H.J. Bowen, George W. Truitt, Charles Bates and J.P. Krause. Mr. Carr had been deacon and choir singer in the Christian church for many years. He will be much missed. His children from both Texas and Indiana have arrived. ****************************************************************************** SOLOMON JUNIUS CARR DEAD. Solomon Junius Carr died last night at 10:42 o'clock. Mr. Carr was a native of Isle of Wight county and lived there until about twenty-two years ago, when he came to Suffolk to accept a position with Bailard & Smith, a position which he held until his death. He was 57 years of age. He was a member of the Christian Church, having been ordained a deacon at Windsor before moving to Suffolk, and after uniting with the church here was elected to fill the same position, which he held at the time of his death. He was also a member of the choir. The deceased is survived by a widow, who was a Miss Ballard; four daughters, Mrs. W.E. Brinkley, Mrs. A.D. Bowen and Miss Ruth Carr, of Suffolk, and Mrs. J.H. Titus, of Sparta, Ill.; two sons, W. Post Carr, of Temple, Texas, and Paul Carr, of Suffolk; one sister, Mrs. Mollie Bradshaw, of Suffolk, and one brother, B.T. Carr, of Windsor; three half-brothers, C.L. Carr, of Lewisburg, W.Va.; J. Clarence Carr, of Marion, Ind., and Darius Carr, of Windsor, Va., and a host of other relatives. The funeral services will be conducted from the Christian Church tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'cock by the pastor, Dr. W.W. Staley, assisted by Revs. H.H. Butler, G.H. McFaden, Joseph B. Dunn and W.M. Seay. The following will be active pall-bearers: J.H. Kelley, B.L. Baker, J.K. Hines, M.M. Williams, James C. Felton, J. Walter Powell. Honorary pall-bearers: V.S. Kilby, Z.T. Yates, W.H.
